The 6th International Central European Congress on Food (CEFood) was held from 23rd until 26th of May, 2012 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

The event brought together numerous food and nutrition scientists, researchers, technologists, young scientists and students to present their work and exchange information about the ongoing novelties.

Under the frame of CEFood2012 there was also organized a special session on international programmes and projects in food science “EuroFoodNetDay”. The session delivered an interesting overview on:
1. Selected finished EU projects:
TRUEFOOD: Traditional United Europe Food: FP6 project collaborative project, finished 2010
VITAL: Integrated Monitoring and Control of Foodborne Viruses in European Food Supply Chains : large collaborative project, finished in 2011
RESPIA: Upscailing the Meat, Dairy and Brewry Pilot Plants at the Faculty of Food Science abd Engineering Dunarea De Jons University of Galati: Infrastructure project, finished in 2012
UNU/SCN NCDNCEE; EUROFIR; EURRECA FP6, EUROFIR–NEXUS FP7, BASEFOOD FP7: Capacity Development in Food and Nutrition in Central and Eastern Europe
Food Scientists Training: A Global Approach by the MONIQUA NOE
2. Networking initiatives:
ISEKI the role of the ISEKI-FOOD Network in Food Science and Technology
GHI: Progress on the Global Harmonization Initiative
3. European ongoing projects
DREAM: Design and development of realistic food models with well-characterized micro- and macro- structure and competitions, a large collaborative project that will be finished in 2013
VEG-I-TRADE: Impact of climate change and globalization on safety of fresh produce, a large collaborative project that will be finished in 2014
CHANCE: Low cost technologies and traditional ingredients for the production of affordable, nutritionally correct foods improving health in population groups at risk of poverty, a small or medium scale focused research project that will be finished in 2014
FOODSEG: Safe food for Europe, coordination of research activities and dissemination of research results of EC funded research results of EU funded research on food safety that will be finished in 2013
agINFRA, FP7 – INFRA 2011 1.2.2.:DATA & Infrastructure for E-SCIENCE, 2011-2014: A data infrastructure to support agricultural scientific communities promoting data sharing and development trust in agricultural sciences which will be finished in 2014
4. COST actions related to food and feed issues:
COST action FA0802: Feed for health, finished in 2012
COST action FA1001, 2010-2014: The application of innovative fundamental food-structure-property relationships to the design of foods for health, wellness and pleasure
COST action FA090, 2010-2014: Mineral-improved crop production for healthy food and feed
5. Human and science capacity building and knowledge transfer
TU_BE_SAFE: Tuning and upgrading the food safety education curricula for BSC (EU-US ATLANTIS programme, FP7 excellence in mobility projects, finished in 2012)
TRACFAST: Innovative tools and strategies for the implementation of food professional skills and expertise, finished in 2012
CAPINFOOD, 2011-2014: Improving the enabling environment and public awareness for innovation in the south-east-European food sector through
FEED-PRO-FOOD: Research cooperation on developing fish in the region (Hungary- Serbia IPA cross-border co-operation programme)
The session “EuroFoodNetDay” was prepared under the dissemination activity of COST and the DREAM project.
The lecture on DREAM project illustrated the scope of the project, its overall goal, expected impact and results.

The R&D contribution of the DREAM project was a poster presenting the methods on detecting the protein carbonylation due to heating.
